4th Antenatal Visit

Our 4th visit and mainly to review OSCAR result.

Was given this First Trimester Prenatal Screening Report and a CD filled with my Baby Ultrasound image.

The combined NT scan and the blood test give an individual assessment (likelihood ratio) for your risk of having a Down’s Syndrome baby. A risk of 1 in 300 or more is generally considered to be high, so Dr Phua say in my case the risk factor is very low, thus no further invasive test is required.

Did the monthly ultrasound and our active baby is doing well

As we pass Week 16, we can now take up their Antenatal Package so that all consultation & ultrasound will be covered till delivery (excluded additional test if required, and does not cover supplement/ medicines). Its worthwhile to take up package once you have chosen your Gynae for delivery since each individual visit cost at least $92 (Follow-up Consultation $49 + Ultrasound $43) minimally once a month and at closer intervals nearer delivery.

Dr Phua only deliver at Thomson Medical Centre or Mt Alvernia Hospital they also include the estimate of the Hospital Maternity Package.

*Note that this might not be the updated fees please refer to individual hospital website (TMC / Mt Alvernia) for their updated pricing.

The nurses will also assist you with room booking with the hospital once you confirm. Usually they will book the 2 bedded room, unless you specifically mention you have a preference. Alternatively you can always contact the hospital to upgrade your room. Its recommended to book a maternity tour (TMC / Mt Alvernia) before you book your room especially if you have not step into the hospital before.

Do remember to 'upgrade' your room if you have preference for one-bedded as room is not reserved for you if you decide to have better room at the point of delivery. For me I have kind of decided on TMC after visiting friends who delivered at these hospitals. Feel more comfortable at TMC, but will still be attending their Hospital Tour next month to get a better feel of what to expect.

Bill for today: $695 for the Antenatal Package + $13 for the multi-vitamins

The clinic nurse is nice enough to photocopy a copy of the receipt in case it fades by the time we submit claim for pre-delivery medical expenses under Medisave Maternity Package (MMP).

With the Medisave Maternity Package (MMP), parents can use their Medisave for (i) delivery expenses, as well as (ii) pre-delivery medical expenses such as consultations and ultrasound. Under the MMP, you may withdraw up to $450 for each day in the hospital, plus $450 for pre-delivery medical expenses and an additional surgical withdrawal limit between $750 and $2,150 depending on the type of delivery procedure. To claim pre-delivery charges from Medisave, parents need to present the bills incurred for pre-delivery medical care to the hospital where baby was delivered. The hospital will submit these bills, together with the delivery expenses, for Medisave claims under the Medisave Maternity Package.

Updates:
Singapore Budget 2016 as at 24 Mar 2016, the pre-delivery medical expenses claim limit is revised from $450 to $900 for deliveries after 24 Mar 2016.
